With strong influences from the Bay Area Thrash, Slayground
was formed in mid 2009 with Camilo Ramirez (Guitar),
Esteban Centurion (guitar), his brother Eduardo Centurion
(Drums), Juan Godoy (Bass) and Gustavo Rivas (vocals).
Rehearsals started with a few songs already written
and on October 17 happens Slayground's debut at Zapada
Under II along with 220 Voltios, Toxina Alcoholica,
Evil Force, The Axe, Rockolla and Sucios & Desprolijos.
In April 2010 the band participates in the 2nd. Edition
of the "Tribute to the history of Rock in Py" honoring
the occasion to Corrosion and Otherwise, two great bands
from Paraguay, all the songs covered that night were
recorded and released free by the Lopez Brothers (event
organizers). The following month Slayground tributed
Slayer playing as the opening act in Absoluto Rock.
On May 22, 2010 The bands Massive Execution, The Axe
and Slayground recorded at Las Palmeras Records a 3-way
split called "Paraguay Thrash Attack" with 3 songs each.
On January 7, 2011 Slayground recorded the first official
demo "Wake Up Evil Dead" at 340Studios in a 3 hour lightning
session and was released the next day at the "To the
Metal" show held in Ciudad del Este (Paraguay).
On May 21 of the same year the band participated in
the concert "Bicentenario Metal Fest", when the lead
singer Gustavo Rivas announced his separation from the
band due to particular projects that would leave little
room for Slayground, after this event Camilo Ramirez
assumes vocals in addition to guitar. The band is still
active as a four piece band devastating with a furious
thrash metal.
Slayground has released their first album "Critical
Thinking" on March 29, 2014 containing 11 tracks of
pure old school thrash metal.
